Forget smooth shading and perfect lines—this workshop is all about discovering how bold, expressive marks can bring a drawing to life. Working exclusively on black paper with white chalk and charcoal, you'll learn to describe form using only the brightest highlights and the deepest shadows, allowing the paper itself to become your mid-tone. You'll explore expressive mark making, contrast and texture. Developing confidence in a looser, more intuitive approach to drawing. Rather than striving for photographic realism, you'll focus on capturing the energy, structure and character of your subject through thoughtful, intentional marks. This is a class that is perfect for beginners or those returning to drawing. All materials are provided.
