About Us

Stanthorpe Art Prize finalist. 'The Pangolin' is a ceramic sculpture of a pangolin curled on it's back.

For Arts Sake was created by Lauren Jackson — ceramic artist, educator, and lifelong art-room enthusiast.

Lauren has been working in ceramics since 2016, with a practice spanning functional wheel-thrown pieces and sculptural works finished through pit firing. Her work explores form, texture, and process, often embracing imperfection and the beautiful unpredictability of fire. In 2020, her sculptural piece The Pangolin was a finalist in the Stanthorpe Art Prize and was purchased during the exhibition.

Alongside her own practice, Lauren has spent the past two years teaching in the Gifted and Talented Arts Extension program at Applecross High School, supporting young artists as they build skills, confidence, and creative voice. Teaching has always been central to her work — not just technique, but creating spaces where people feel safe to experiment, make mistakes, and discover what they’re capable of.

For Arts Sake brings together Lauren’s full creative skill set for the first time: ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, wearable art and more — all under one roof. The studio is built on the belief that art doesn’t have to be intimidating or precious to be meaningful. It’s about showing up, getting your hands dirty, learning something new, and remembering that creativity is allowed to be fun.
