Date Night - Portrait Drawing

Course Outline

A fun, relaxed and slightly chaotic date night where you and your partner will draw each other in portrait form. This beginner-friendly art experience is designed for laughter, connection, and creative play—not perfection. At the beginning of the session, students will be asked to provide a reference photo for their partner, which they will use as the basis for their portrait drawing. Don't have one? Don't worry, we can take a couple of sneaky selfies on the night. We’ll guide you through the fundamentals of portrait drawing, including proportion, shading, and essential sketching techniques, making this session accessible even if you’ve never drawn before. This isn’t about creating a flawless likeness—it’s about the experience of seeing (and drawing) your partner in a completely new way… with plenty of humour along the way. Expect big laughs, light-hearted “what is that supposed to be?” moments, and maybe a little shared “trauma bonding” in the best possible way. A sense of humour and adventure is highly recommended. Perfect for couples, first dates, or anyone willing to risk drawing their significant other’s face from scratch. All materials are provided a long with some nibbles and a complimentary drink. Don't forget, you can always head downstairs to Si Paradiso afterwards, or explore the Beaufort St Cafe Strip.
