Course Outline

Abstract art allows us to focus on composition over form. When we are no longer trying to make art that looks representational we get to embrace the use of composition to drive the image. Using ink and pen we'll explore composition using a variety of techniques including repetition, playing with line weight and styles, perspective and movement. We'll do a series of test compositions and techniques before starting work on a long draw session where you will get to produce an abstract piece combining your favourites. This is a relaxed, fun session that is intended to inspire you to get a little loose in your own practices. No experience needed. All materials provided.
